UX RESEARCH
At the beginning stages of my project I was able to conduct research that helped me better understand the problem.
Interviews
When I conducted my interviews I was afraid of how people might respond to what I’m trying to accomplish. I was really busy the weekend I did the interviews, in both a good and bad way. I went to the 49ers game at Levi Stadium (they lost) but I still completed my interviews. I used that moment as an opportunity to interview drunk and tipsy fans, it was also fun seeing their response. Most of them were very standoffish and kind, but almost everyone responded to my questions in the same way. I felt like if I interviewed any men they would’ve been confused about my call to action. This is why I only interviewed women, which you can see in the following video... I noticed few women unconcerned with menstrual products increasing in price if they have the financial means to pay for them.
Competitive Analysis
Below is a section where I researched other sites that may have a similar idea to mine. The closest I found to a similar idea was Aunt Flow who does amazing work providing free period products in schools. As I compared other social sites together it felt like almost every app about periods directed towards femininity and fertility. A lot of women are not concerned with that, nowadays western women are more concerned about advancing in their careers. Theirs nothing wrong with embracing that feminine side but I felt a little excluded as someone who isn’t hyperfeminine and it turned me off when dealing with these apps. They also weren’t free most of the time, for no reason. My app is completely free and equitable, especially for women in poverty.
